About The Modern Warehouse

Established. 2004

Based in Victoria Park, East London, The Modern Warehouse specialise in buying and selling Mid – Century Modern furniture and accessories from Scandinavia, U.S.A. and Great Britain. We sell to both trade and private clients here in the U.K. and internationally.

All of our items are hand-picked by our team and represent some of the most famous architects/designers of the period. Alongside our range of ‘design classics,’ we stock many interesting items that are as yet unidentified by us but are chosen because of their Mid-Century style and their high quality. Our collection is made up entirely of original vintage pieces (no reproductions) and we only sell pieces that are in very good condition.

We take pride in presenting an ever-changing range of furniture and accessories with website updates every couple of weeks ensuring our website is kept right up to date. If you would like to be kept aware of our new items and any other news from The Modern Warehouse feel free to join our mailing list by selecting the ‘MAILING LIST’ option in our main menu bar and entering your email address.

You are welcome to come and see us at the Warehouse. We can be available daytimes, evenings or weekends whether you would like to see something in particular or just have a browse. For an ‘informal’ appointment drop us a line by email or give us a call to arrange a time. For information on how to get to us select ‘Getting to us’ in the left hand menu.

If you are too far away from East London to visit us you can be sure that we will provide you with clear and honest descriptions of our furniture to give you the confidence to go ahead and add a great piece of Mid– Century Modern to you home.

If we can be of any help feel free to contact us we will do our best to meet your needs…

Open Evenings

The Modern Warehouse is open for special seasonal Open Evenings four times a year. We invite all of our clients to join us for a glass of wine or a beer, or two and have a look at our collection including new items that haven’t yet made it to our website. We also use the Open Evenings to launch any new promotions we have including our’ Make us an Offer Month’ and ‘our Christmas Discount Party’

The Open Evenings are informal, relaxed affairs which give you a chance to make a purchase on the night or discuss directly with us your requirements for the future.

To keep abreast of our Open Evenings or any promotions we are running feel free to join our mailing list by selecting the ‘MAILING LIST’ option in our main menu bar and entering your email address.

Sourcing

We are constantly out in the field searching for great new pieces and are happy to keep our eyes peeled for you if there is something you are looking for. Whether you would like a new sofa or have your heart set on an original Eames rocker we can help. If you need to furnish your whole house from scratch or just need a mirror for your living room then feel free to drop us a line.

Our ‘Archive’ section shows a selection of previously sold items. If you have missed something we invite you to tell us that you are ‘looking for a similar item’ by clicking the link, we will then do our best to find you something that suits.

Getting To Us

By Car

The Modern Warehouse is situated just off Victoria Park Road with the entrance on Banbury Road. Whether you navigate by Sat-Nav or the A-Z remember to choose Banbury road E9, our official ‘Victoria Park Road’ Address can be a little misleading. Our Building is at the end of Banbury Road next door to the Hackney Forge. To see a map click the ‘Contact Us’ option on our main menu bar.

Parking is free outside The Warehouse – hurrah.

By Public Transport

The closet Tube stations to us are Bethnal Green (Central Line) and Mile End (District and Central Lines). Bethnal Green is a 15 minute walk away and Mile End is a short bus ride on the 277. Both are 5 mins in a taxi.

The bus routes to Victoria Park are the 277 and the 425. The 277 runs from Highbury corner to Limehouse and the 425 runs from Stratford to Homerton both would drop you a minute’s walk from the Warehouse.

How To Purchase an item

If you see an item that you are interested in feel free to contact us by choosing the ‘Ask us a question about this item’ option. We are more than happy to provide you with dimensions, condition reports, shipping and delivery quotes and any other information you may require. In most cases we will reserve an item for you for a couple of days to enable you to come to the Warehouse and see it if you wish.

When purchasing an item we can provide you with an invoice, together with our bank details for a bank transfer (less time, energy and waste paper) or we will gladly accept cash, cheques or credit card payments via PayPal, which is subject to a surcharge (contact us for full details).

We are well experienced in shipping items internationally and organising deliveries locally and nationally.

Wherever you live we provide you with a competitive quote from a range of trusted companies we have built up a relationship with over the years.
